Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord guide · Updated

Your Bannerlord modules on another PC.

Give a friend your modded Calradia, or move it to a new PC. SyncCrate copies the mod modules in the host's Modules folder, and after the first time only the files that changed. The game's own modules stay where they are.

// 01 Why

Why Bannerlord mod lists fall apart on a second PC

Bannerlord mods are modules, and most of them depend on others: Harmony, ButterLib, UIExtenderEx and Mod Configuration Menu sit under half of the popular mods. Get one of them in the wrong version and the game crashes on start or the mod never loads.

Mods also tend to target a specific game version, so a friend on another version, or on a different Steam beta branch, can't just copy your folder and expect it to work.

SyncCrate copies the host's mod modules to the other PC, compares every file by content, and after the first sync sends only new and changed files. You see the list before anything changes.

Built in for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

  • Script warnings. .dll files run code on your PC, so they're flagged for you to review before they sync.
  • Turn mods on and off. Disabled mods move to a _Disabled folder the game doesn't load.
  • Game-running warning. SyncCrate warns you before syncing while Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is still open.
  • Undo and history. Undo the last sync in one click, and put back any single file a sync replaced or deleted.

// 03 How it works

Sync Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord in three steps

  1. Install and add the game

    Install SyncCrate on every PC and add Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord in the Game Browser. Its folder is found automatically.

  2. One PC hosts

    The PC with the setup everyone should have clicks Start Hosting. The others pick it under Scan for Hosts on the same network, or paste its join code from anywhere.

  3. Compare and sync

    Check the list of new, changed and conflicting files, then Sync Now. Only the files that differ are copied, PC to PC.

TipPut every PC on the same game version (and the same Steam branch) before syncing. Mods built for one version often crash on another.

// 04 Common problems

When Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord mods don't match

  • Missing or mismatched dependencies

    Most mods need shared modules like Harmony, ButterLib, UIExtenderEx or MCM, in a version that fits both the mod and the game.

    Dependencies are modules too, so they sync with everything else. Every PC gets the host's exact versions.

  • Mods enabled on one PC only

    Which modules are on, and in what order, is saved by the launcher in your Documents folder, not in Modules.

    SyncCrate copies the modules. On the other PC, tick them and set the same order once in the launcher's Mods tab.

  • Different game versions

    After a patch, mods often need an update, and a friend who updates the game at a different time ends up with crashes nobody else has.

    Agree on one game version, let the host update the mods, and everyone else syncs and gets only the changed files.

  • The game's own modules

    Native, SandBox, StoryMode and the DLC modules live in the same folder as your mods. Copying them across can mix game versions or hand over paid content.

    Bannerlord's own modules are never synced. Only mods are.

Good to know

  • Real mod names. The Content page reads each module's SubModule.xml and shows its name and version instead of folder names.
  • Steam Workshop modules are kept by Steam in its own folder, not in Modules, and aren't synced. Friends subscribe to the same items.
  • Saves and settings stay yours. They live in Documents, and only the Modules folder syncs.
  • Mods run code. .dll files are flagged before they sync, and nothing changes until you approve the list. Only sync with people you trust.

// FAQ

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord questions

Can I copy my Bannerlord mods to another PC?

Yes. Install SyncCrate on both PCs, host on the one with your mods, join from the other and Compare & Sync. Then enable the modules and set the load order in the launcher.

Where are Bannerlord mods installed?

In the Modules folder inside the game folder, one folder per module. Steam Workshop modules are kept in Steam's workshop folder instead.

Does it sync the load order?

No. The launcher saves it in your Documents folder. Set it once on the other PC; the modules themselves are what takes time to copy.

Does it copy the DLC?

No. The game's own modules, including DLC modules, are skipped. Each PC needs its own copy.
