R.E.P.O. guide · Updated
Same R.E.P.O. mods for the whole team.
New items, monsters and levels only work when every player has them. SyncCrate copies the host's BepInEx mods, and the configs if you want, to the team, and after the first time only what changed.

// 01 Why
Why modded R.E.P.O. runs go wrong
R.E.P.O. mods come in two kinds. Some only change the host's game, like extra upgrades or bigger lobbies. Others, like new valuables, monsters and levels built on REPOLib, need to be on every player's PC, or those players see missing objects, fall out of sync or can't join.
The game is still updating often, and mods follow quickly. Keeping a group of friends on matching versions from week to week is the part nobody wants to do.
With SyncCrate one PC hosts and everyone else matches it. Mods are compared by content, only the differences are copied, and players see the list before anything changes.
// 02 What syncs
What SyncCrate syncs for R.E.P.O.
| Folder | Path in the game folder | Files |
|---|---|---|
| Plugins (BepInEx) | BepInEx/plugins/Plugin .dll files with their Thunderstore manifest.json, icons and readme. | All files |
| Mod Configs | BepInEx/config/Mod settings. The host decides whether friends may sync them. | .cfg .json |

- Script warnings.
.dllfiles run code on your PC, so they're flagged for you to review before they sync. - BepInEx check. Warns when BepInEx isn't installed on a PC, because the synced mods can't load without it.
- Disabling that sticks. Turning a mod off renames it to
.disabledin place, because the game also loads mods from subfolders. - Game-running warning. SyncCrate warns you before syncing while R.E.P.O. is still open.
- Undo and history. Undo the last sync in one click, and put back any single file a sync replaced or deleted.
// 03 How it works
Sync R.E.P.O. in three steps
Install and add the game
Install SyncCrate on every PC and add R.E.P.O. in the Game Browser. Its folder is found automatically.
One PC hosts
The PC with the setup everyone should have clicks Start Hosting. The others pick it under Scan for Hosts on the same network, or paste its join code from anywhere.
Compare and sync
Check the list of new, changed and conflicting files, then Sync Now. Only the files that differ are copied, PC to PC.
TipEvery PC needs BepInEx itself installed once (the BepInExPack from Thunderstore). SyncCrate syncs the plugins and configs and warns you if BepInEx is missing.
// 04 Common problems
When R.E.P.O. mods don't match
Content mods missing on a player's PC
Mods that add items, monsters or levels need every player to have them. Without them, objects are missing or the game desyncs.
Everyone syncs the host's plugins before the run, so the whole team has the same mods.
The game updated again
Frequent game updates break mods until their authors catch up, and friends update at different times.
Check for updates asks Thunderstore which mods have newer versions. The host updates, everyone else syncs and gets only the changed files.
A library mod is out of date
Many content mods depend on REPOLib or other libraries. One outdated library can stop several mods from loading.
Syncing copies the host's exact set, libraries included, so dependencies match too.
Which mods are host-only?
Mixing host-only and everyone mods is confusing, and guessing wrong breaks the lobby.
Syncing the host's whole folder avoids the question: everyone simply has what the host has.

Good to know
- Mods from r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager are in the manager's profile folder. Open it with Settings → Browse profile folder, and point SyncCrate there.
- Plugins run code.
.dllfiles are flagged before they sync, and nothing changes until you approve the list. Only sync with people you trust. - Saves stay yours. Only the BepInEx plugins and config folders sync.
// FAQ
R.E.P.O. questions
Do all players need the same mods in R.E.P.O.?
For mods that add items, monsters or levels, yes. Some mods, like extra upgrades or lobby size, only need the host. Syncing from the host covers both.
Where are R.E.P.O. mods installed?
With BepInEx, in BepInEx/plugins inside the game folder, with settings in BepInEx/config. Mod managers use a profile folder with the same layout.
Why not just share an r2modman profile code?
A profile code installs a pack from Thunderstore. SyncCrate copies the host's actual files, including mods from elsewhere and edited configs, works on a LAN without internet, and each later sync sends only what changed. You can point SyncCrate at the r2modman profile folder and use both.
