Farming Simulator 22 guide · Updated

Same FS22 mods on every farm PC.

A multiplayer farm needs everyone on the host's mods, in the same versions. SyncCrate copies the host's FS22 mods folder to each farmer, including mods that aren't on ModHub, and after the first time only what changed.

// 01 Why

Why modded FS22 multiplayer keeps failing

Farming Simulator 22 has years of community mods behind it: large maps, equipment packs, production chains and script mods. Mods from ModHub can be downloaded when joining a server, but everything from other sites has to be installed by each player, in exactly the host's version.

A long-running farm makes this worse. The host adds a mod, updates a map, removes something that caused trouble, and every farmer has to repeat each change by hand or they can't join.

With SyncCrate the host's mods folder is the reference. Friends sync from it, only the files that differ are copied, and they see the list before anything changes.

Built in for Farming Simulator 22

  • Turn mods on and off. Disabled mods move to a _Disabled folder the game doesn't load.
  • Duplicate finder. Finds identical files saved in different folders.
  • Game-running warning. SyncCrate warns you before syncing while Farming Simulator 22 is still open.
  • Undo and history. Undo the last sync in one click, and put back any single file a sync replaced or deleted.

// 03 How it works

Sync Farming Simulator 22 in three steps

  1. Install and add the game

    Install SyncCrate on every PC and add Farming Simulator 22 in the Game Browser. Its folder is found automatically.

  2. One PC hosts

    The PC with the setup everyone should have clicks Start Hosting. The others pick it under Scan for Hosts on the same network, or paste its join code from anywhere.

  3. Compare and sync

    Check the list of new, changed and conflicting files, then Sync Now. Only the files that differ are copied, PC to PC.

TipEvery PC needs the same game version and any DLC the mods require, like Precision Farming or the expansion packs. SyncCrate copies mods, not DLC.

// 04 Common problems

When Farming Simulator 22 mods don't match

  • Mods from outside ModHub

    The game only downloads ModHub mods for joining players. Maps and equipment from other sites are up to each player.

    SyncCrate copies every .zip in the host's mods folder, wherever it came from.

  • Unzipped mods

    Farming Simulator expects mods as .zip files, and extracted folders are a common reason a mod works for one player and not in multiplayer.

    SyncCrate only copies the .zip files in the mods folder, so everyone gets mods the way the game wants them.

  • The farm crashes after an update

    With a hundred mods installed, finding the one that broke loading or crashes the game takes a long time.

    Find a broken mod turns half of the mods off, asks whether the problem is still there, and halves again until one is left. Everything goes back on at the end.

  • The same mod twice

    Downloading an update often leaves a second copy with a different file name, which confuses the mod list.

    The duplicate finder on the Content page finds identical files, and removed ones stay in File history.

Good to know

  • Savegames aren't synced. In multiplayer the farm lives with the host or the dedicated server, and only the mods folder syncs.
  • FS22 and FS25 mods aren't interchangeable. Farming Simulator 25 has its own mods folder and is a separate game in SyncCrate.
  • Your settings stay yours. game.xml and other files next to the mods folder aren't copied.

Farming Simulator 22 questions

Do all players need the same mods in Farming Simulator 22?

Yes, players need the host's mods in the same versions. ModHub mods can be downloaded when joining; other mods have to be installed by each player, which SyncCrate does for you.

Where is the FS22 mods folder?

In Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2022\mods on Windows and ~/Library/Application Support/FarmingSimulator2022/mods on a Mac. SyncCrate finds it automatically and creates it if it's missing.

Can I use it with a dedicated server?

The server needs the same mods too. If it runs on a Windows PC with a desktop, install SyncCrate there and sync its mods folder from the host like any other PC.

Does it work at a LAN party?

Yes. SyncCrate finds hosts on the local network without internet and copies files at LAN speed, which matters for multi-gigabyte map mods.
